Gov. Gretchen Whitmer unveiled her latest state budget proposal this week—and it includes plans to provide free preschool for all 4-year-old Michiganders, as well as fully fund the first two years of community college for every high school graduate in the state. If approved by state lawmakers, the plan would save families with children an average of $10,000 a year, and community college students would save an average of about $4,000. “We know that we have to be a state of lifelong learners,” Whitmer said. “We’ve got to be nimble and we’ve got to make sure that we have the skills that lead to high-wage jobs.” #statebudget #Michigan #michigander
