A group of Democratic US House members on Thursday called for the GOP-led chamber to pass the Justice For All Act, which they say will protect Americans from racial discrimination. 

A long-sought-after Democratic bill to do away with Michigan’s controversial third-grade reading law cleared final passage in the state House on Tuesday, moving the legislation to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s desk for her likely signature.

The legislation in both the House and the Senate would mandate universal background checks for all guns, require that gun owners safely store firearms that could be accessed by minors, and permit a court to order the temporary removal of firearms from someone who may be a danger to themselves or others.
