VIDEO: Dr. Kari Beth Watts addresses maternity deserts in Michigan, fills gaps in rural reproductive care

@gandernewsroom

Ever heard of a maternity desert? You might even live in one. These are counties in Michigan with no obstetric care or providers. While statewide initiatives and groups work on the problem of maternity deserts, family physicians are working on filling the gaps in care for people of reproductive age. Dr. Kari Beth Watts is one of them. She’s a family physician with the Family Medicine Residency Program at Western Michigan University. She and her staff are helping Michiganders in rural communities have access to maternity care. Watch the video to find out more. #maternity #pregnancy #baby #motherhood #healthcare #medical #doctors #hospital #doctor #healthcareworker #healthcareworkers
